Hello from Afghanistan... December 28, 2009
Hi There
My names Dale Durand and I'm currently serving in Afghanistan. I grew up in New Norway on the same block as your establishment. I spent many hours hanging out with the Flynn boys when they lived where your now located. On Xmas Eve our vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb and taken out of action (everyone was ok). So they sent us back to Kandahar Airfield to get a new one. It gave us a chance to relax, get clean and cruise the boardwalk. Now you have to realize that Kandahar Airfield is a massive place with thousands of people from many different countries. So you can imagine my surprise when I was cruising the boardwalk and I came across your banner prominently displayed for everyone to see. I had to take a picture and send it to you. It means a lot to us knowing there are people like you at home that support us over here. Take care and have a happy holiday.

Dave Hendrickson Making A Difference... We received a long-distance email from a young man that grew up in New Norway who is currently Proudly serving in Afghanistan.. I am extatic to see that our banner made it overseas for all of the Canadian men and women serving our great country to see. We love you all and cannot wait for your safe return. I hope that the banner serves as a reminder that while you are so far away, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. A simple thank-you just doesnt seem to be enough.. You truely are OUR HEROES. Hi Linda and Gord
You don’t know me but some friend’s of mine were at your Support Our Troops event last year and haven’t stopped talking about it since. I am wondering if you can provide me with any information with regards to places to stay etc in your area as there are a group of us looking to come your way for this event this summer.
I should tell you a little about myself, I am the wife of a soldier currently deployed in Afghanistan. I currently live at CFB Suffield, down near Medicine Hat, although my husband is posted to 1 Service Battalion in Edmonton. He has now been in Afghan since September and is expected to return sometime around April or May of 2010. When he is in the country in addition to being a proud member of the CF he is also the President of the Coriano Ridge Unit of the Canadian Army Veteran’s Motorcycle Units here in Medicine Hat. I know you are familiar with the organization and I have to say you are very well spoke of by all members who have been lucky enough to have been to the Steel Horse. Unfortunately we were otherwise committed last year on the weekend of the ride or we would have been there as well.
We are planning on attending your event this summer and will be looking for accommodations, possibly camping, possibly hotels for approximately 10-20 people. I’m hoping maybe you can help. I also see on your website that you currently are looking to sell your establishment. I hope even if you do that you will be back for the event as I am looking forward to meeting both of you. I want to thank you on behalf of one military family that appreciates people like you who support our Canadian Forces members enthusiastically and with such passion. Keep up the great work and I look forward to meeting you this summer.

We have changed our license to allow minors from 11am - 130pm and 5pm -9 pm Wednesday – Saturday. Minors MUST be accompanied by an adult after 1:30pm weekdays and all day Saturday.
